Resource Person

Fakhrul Islam Farhad is a veteran project management professional & renowned trainer in Bangladesh. He has conducted several professional training programs successfully with utmost reputation both in public and corporate sector. He was one of the content designers, developers and instructors for the Certificate in Project Management training organized by Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. He is the guest lecturer for Project Quality Management at Bangladesh Institute of Management, Dhaka. Till date he has trained more than 250 aspirant project managers and acclaimed recommendation for his unique way of conducting the sessions. 

He has been engaged with different industries like, education, software development, banking, and telecommunication for last 12 years. Currently he is working as a Project Specialist for Grameenphone in its Project Management Office. His 8 years of exclusive project management experience in home and abroad, continuous research and development on project management competence development and up-gradation of the contents according to learner’s capability & experience make him unique in project management training. He has completed his B.Sc. Engineering in Electrical & Electronic from Islamic University of Technology and later on MBA in Finance from Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. Mr. Farhad is a certified PMP from Project Management Institute, USA since 2008.

In his professional career he contributed in strategic and tactical planning, development & deployment of IT systems in telecom companies & developed yearly IT Plan by assimilating the business requests from internal customers. His key expertise includes Evaluation of business requests in terms of application viability, customer usability & cost constraint ; Converting the business requests into projects, prioritize them & engage IT partners for the execution of the project and manage the whole IT project portfolio; Develop & implement IT Project Framework; Development of project management competence development framework for Grameenphone Ltd. (The leading telecom operator in Bangladesh); Designed and developed the modules and conducted the sessions on project scope, time, and cost management for the Certificate course on Project Management.

He has Partner/ Vendor management experience like IBM, Ericsson, Sun, Microsoft, & effectively managed portfolio of business critical projects of USD 40 million as portfolio manager. He is confident in leading, managing, motivating & coaching large (220+ members) cross functional project team for achieving business objective through project implementation & experienced in managing high value projects and demonstrated decision making and conflict resolution skills.

Overview:

Project management has emerged as a crucial factor that determines the success of an organization. Whether it is a question of facing an economic crisis or generating large turnover, project management plays a pivotal role in the growth of a firm. Companies recruit project managers that lead the team in order to timely achieve the targets set by the clients and customers. In management terminology, the duration in which an entire project is carried out, from its inception till the end, is called the project life cycle. The project life cycle can consist of one or multiple project management approaches. The management approaches are the various project management methodologies that the team can decide to follow so that the target is achieved in allotted time.

Course Objectives:

The most basic analysis of the project is called as the initiation stage of a project. After this stage, designing or planning is done to streamline the task and make a flexible strategy to complete the task. Then the execution phase takes the center stage, and in this phase, the project is practically tackled with all its pros and cons. The monitoring and controlling of the project is done with the execution stage to check the possible threats and keep an eye on the performance of the team. Once the project is about to finish, it goes into the closing phase, where all the activities are finalized.
